Serial No: 052310

IWL TR 150 Troll 1 manufactured from 1963 – 1965.

Industriewerke Ludwigsfelde (IWL) was indeed an automotive factory in Ludwigsfelde, Germany, and it was part of Daimler-Benz AG. The factory was established in 1936 to produce aero engines for Luftwaffe bomber and fighter aircraft during World War II. After the war, various manufacturers, including aircraft and aircraft components makers, diversified into other products, including motor scooters.

The IWL TR 150 Troll 1 was manufactured from 1963 to 1965. The “TR” in its name stands for TourenRoller, emphasizing its suitability for longer journeys, and “Troll” stands for TourenRoller Ludwigsfelde, indicating that it was a Ludwigsfelde touring scooter. The scooter featured a 143 cc engine supplied by MZ, with its power increased to 9.5 bhp. In 1962, MZ had introduced the ES 150 motorcycle, and the scooter version utilized a modified version of this engine.

Towards the end of 1965, IWL ceased scooter production to transition to manufacturing IFA W 50 trucks. By the time scooter production ended, IWL had built a total of 56,513 Troll 1 scooters. This information aligns with the historical context and the production details of the IWL TR 150 Troll 1.
